In the spring premiere, Buck finally told his family he donated sperm to help his old roommate and his wife get pregnant. He showed them the sonogram of the baby boy, and much to his surprise, his parents were supportive.
"Obviously through his job as a firefighter, but we've also seen in his personal life, he's always willing to go above and beyond. So I was not surprised that he ended up saying yes [to this]." In the seventh episode of Season 6, titled "Cursed," Buck, after many failed attempts, finally made his donation.

This week's “9-1-1” picked up right where we left Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Buck (Oliver Stark), with the siblings discussing the deep, dark secret their parents forced Maddie to keep from Buck his entire life: they had a brother named Daniel who died at age 9, when Buck was a baby.

The birthmark over Stark's eye is real.

Suffice to say, this was disgusting. But hey, Buck did not cheat on Abby! Unfortunately, Abby is going away for a while—she wants to travel to Dublin, which her mom always dreamed of doing, and also because Connie Britton's 9-1-1 contract was for only one season.
After her mother's death, Abby needed to figure out what to do with her life, and at the end of the first season, she suddenly left. She did this without telling Buck where she was going or when she would be back. Buck did gain some closure a few seasons later, but it didn't see the permanent return of the character.
